Dahlia, I wasn’t always called that!

Hey there, I’m a dahlia, and I’ve got a cool backstory! Originally, I wasn’t always known by my current name. When I first caught the attention of botanists, Carl Linnaeus actually classified me under the name “Georgina” (yep, kind of a different vibe, right?). But as time went on, another botanist, Antonio José Cavanilles, decided I should be named after Anders Dahl, the Swedish botanist who helped bring me into the spotlight. So, I got the name “Dahlia” in his honor! Now, every time you admire my colorful blooms, you can think of those brilliant minds who helped me get my name.
