Australian native and Dry Climate Garden
Welcome to the “Survivor Garden” — a spot where tough plants and trees thrive against the odds! This area of the property isn’t quite as rich in its soil as the other parts of the flower farm, so we’ve chosen a mixture hardy perenials and self seeding annuals that can handle less-than-ideal conditions. Most of the plants here are annual natives or drought-tolerant perenials, perfectly happy to go without any supplemental feeding. They’re the low-maintenance legends of the plant world! If they look dead or dying, they will regenerate next season!
Fun fact about Australian Natives: Did you know that many Australian native plants, like the Banksia and Bottlebrush, have special adaptations to survive in fire-prone environments? These plants have fire-resistant seeds that can stay dormant until after a fire, and once the ashes settle, they spring to life, helping the landscape regenerate! Nature’s own “fire recovery” squad!
